{"id":1375,"date":"2013-05-03T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-03T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webdev.flars.net\/WORDPRESS\/?p=1375"},"modified":"2021-08-15T23:29:20","modified_gmt":"2021-08-15T21:29:20","slug":"mary-the-transparency-of-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chiaralubich.org\/en\/archivio-scritti-en\/mary-the-transparency-of-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Mary, the Transparency of God"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Fiera di Primiero, 1959<\/h1>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>Among the many words <br \/>pronounced by the Father <br \/>in all of his Creation, <br \/>one was unique. <br \/>Not so much an object of thought <br \/>but more of intuition, <br \/>not so much the splendor of divine sun <br \/>but a cool and gentle shade, <br \/>like a little cloud, fresh and white, <br \/>that screens and adjusts the sun\u2019s rays <br \/>so that human eyes can see.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>It was in the plans of Providence <br \/> that the Word be made flesh, <br \/> that a word, the Word, be written <br \/> on earth in flesh and blood; <br \/> and this Word needed a background. <br \/> The heavenly harmonies <br \/> longed, out of love for us, <br \/> to transfer their peerless concert <br \/> within our tents;<br \/> and for this they needed a silence.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>The Protagonist of all humanity, <br \/> who gave meaning to centuries past,<br \/> enlightened and drew after him centuries to come,<br \/> had to appear on this world\u2019s stage,<br \/> but needed a backdrop of white<br \/> to make him alone stand out. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>The greatest design <br \/> that God-Love could invent <br \/> had to be drawn majestic <br \/> and divine, with all the colors <br \/> of virtue, and had to be found <br \/> in a heart composed and ready <br \/> to serve him. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>This marvelous shade<br \/> that contains the sun,<br \/> losing and finding itself therein;<br \/> this white background <br \/> so immense, almost an abyss <br \/> that contains the Word which is Christ<br \/> submerging itself in him,<br \/> light in the Light;<br \/> this lofty silence<br \/> is silent no more,<br \/> for within it sing<br \/> the divine harmonies of the Word<br \/> and in him it becomes the note of notes,<br \/> almost setting the tone<br \/> for heaven\u2019s endless song;<br \/> this scene majestic and fair as nature,<br \/> synthesis of the beauty the Creator<br \/> lavished throughout the universe,<br \/> a little universe for the Son of God,<br \/> which is seen no more<br \/> because it yields its interests and its parts<br \/> to the One who was to come, and has come,<br \/> for what he had to do, and did;<br \/> this rainbow of virtue<br \/> that says \u201cpeace\u201d to the entire world<br \/> because Peace it has given the world;<br \/> this creature, first thought of<br \/> in the mysterious abyss of the Trinity<br \/> and given to us,<br \/> was Mary. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>Of her we do not speak, <br \/> of her we sing.<br \/> Of her we do not think,<br \/> but we call upon her and love her.<br \/> She is not the subject of study,<br \/> but of poetry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>The greatest geniuses of the world<br \/> have put brush and pen<br \/> at her service.<br \/> If Jesus incarnates the Word,<br \/> the Logos,<br \/> the Light,<br \/> Reason,<br \/> Mary personifies Art,<br \/> Beauty,<br \/> Love.<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>Masterpiece of the Creator,<br \/> Mary,<br \/> on whom the Holy Spirit<br \/> delighted to bestow all he invented,<br \/> and poured out so many of his inspirations. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"quotation\">\n<p><strong>Beautiful Mary!<br \/> About her we can never say enough.<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"nota\">(taken from Mary, The Transparency of God, New City Press, New York 2003) <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"pdf\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=1082\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Text<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fiera di Primiero, 1959 Among the many words pronounced by the Father in all of his Creation, one was unique.
