Chiara Lubich, il 24 gennaio 1991, attraverso una conversazione telefonica, pone l’accento sull’importanza del vivere la Parola del Vangelo, “essere Parola viva”. Il 17 gennaio scoppia la Guerra del Golfo: “ciò che non doveva accadere è invece accaduto”, afferma Chiara, in un testo che rimane di grande attualità. Sono passati 75 anni da quel giorno in cui Chiara Lubich stilò lo scritto «Ho un solo sposo sulla terra», qui riproposto. Uno scritto destinato a diventare fin dagli inizi un vero e proprio Manifesto programmatico per Chiara e per chi l’avrebbe seguita facendo propria la spiritualità dell’unità. Alle origini: una estate di Luce, e nello stesso tempo un richiamo forte: «scendere dalle montagne» e andare incontro all’umanità che soffre per abbracciare Gesù Abbandonato in ogni espressione di dolore, in ogni “abbandono”. Parola di Vita, marzo 2006 Nel commento1 alla frase tratta dal Vangelo di Giovanni, Chiara Lubich evidenzia l’invito “ad agire in conformità con la verità, in coerenza con il Vangelo. Essa ci domanda di essere persone che mettono in pratica la Parola di Dio e non soltanto ascoltatori (Cfr. Gli universali valori evangelici, vengono rispettosamente proposti, in una tipica prospettiva comunitaria. Dear All, … We have been called, above all, to give the world a show of perfect charity, charity which is love for God and which is proved by love of neighbour.We also spoke about charity in the last conference call and many of us were struck when we understood that love for our neighbours does not mean being ready to die for them but to actually die, not being ourselves so as to be the other, to live the others.
