Senza accettazione di persone

Roma, 1969 Ogni uomo, chiunque egli sia, è degno del nostro rispetto e della nostra confidenza «Se tu conoscessi il dono di Dio e chi è colui che ti dice: “Dammi da bere!”...» (Gv 4,10). Gesù alla Samaritana non si attarda a rispondere riguardo ai litigi che esistono tra Giudei e Samaritani.Il suo è un linguaggio che colpisce, che incanta, che trasporta dalla terra al Cielo. Sembra che il cuore gli esca dal petto nel desiderio di dare il meglio che porta sulla terra: il dono di Dio.Due sono le cose che vuol dare agli uomini: la grazia e la conoscenza di Colui che quest’«acqua viva» dona. «Acqua viva»! (Gv 4,10). È magnifico! Ci pensiamo? Un’acqua viva. Viva. È viva la vita in chiunque la vita conosce e possiede. Così è la grazia di Dio: è la vita dell’anima. Gesù è fantastico! Quanto poco lo conosciamo se non leggiamo con amore il Vangelo. Ci siamo fatti spesso di Lui un’immagine nostra, secondo qualche deteriore pietà tradizionale. Ma nel Vangelo appare com’è:

To Be Peacemakers

Frascati, 2 May 1982 Peace in the world also depends on me… Jesus says: "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Mt. 5:9). Today with all these tensions between East and West, tensions between races, in certain countries between rich and poor, wars and terrorism and one thing and another, we have to be people who bring peace. Where should we begin? With, ourselves, with ourselves. When we realize that something is upsetting us, we should put peace there, because we don’t know the consequences. If we allow that particular thing explode within us, then we are already a centre of tension. Then, in our families, offices and schools, we have to be peacemakers, bring peace, because we can't imagine the consequences this way of acting will have – like a stone thrown into water – we can’t know the good effects. La famiglia

Rocca di Papa, 25 dicembre 1973 Quest'anno mi viene particolarmente in rilievo Natale come la festa della famiglia. Ma dov'è nata la più straordinaria famiglia se non nella grotta di Betlemme? E' lì, con la nascita del Bambino, che essa ha avuto origine. E' lì che si è sprigionato per la prima volta nel cuore di Maria e di Giuseppe l'amore per un terzo membro: il Dio fatto bambino. La famiglia: ecco una parola che contiene un immenso significato: ricco, profondo, sublime e semplice, soprattutto reale. La famiglia o c'è, o non c'è. Atmosfera di famiglia è atmosfera di comprensione, di distensione serena, atmosfera di sicurezza, di unità, di amore reciproco, di pace, che prende i membri in tutto il loro essere. Vorrei che questo Natale incidesse a caratteri di fuoco in tutti i nostri animi questa parola: famiglia.
