In 1999, Chiara Lubich met with young people from around the world gathered at the Mariapolis Centre in Castel Gandolfo, Rome. On that occasion, she shared with them the first accounts of the experience she had lived through during the summer of 1949 in Tonadico, in Valle di Primiero, Italy; thus began a mystical and illuminating experience that would come to be known as Paradise '49.

Parma rende omaggio a Chiara Lubich, fondatrice del Movimento dei Focolari, intitolandole il parco davanti al Duc in viale Mentana. Un gesto che celebra il legame storico della città con il Movimento, iniziato già nel 1952 con figure come Lionello Bonfanti.
