Chiara Lubich was appointed as a consultant to the Pontifical Council for the Laity. She participated in the Extraordinary Synod for the twentieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Council. She was later invited to the Synod on the Vocation and Mission of the Laity in 1987 and to the Synod for Europe in 1990.
Mosaic created by Paolo Scirpa between 1963 and 1965. The theme initially chosen was Pentecost, but during the making of it Pope Paul VI declared 'Mary, Mother of the Church' and Chiara wished to adapt the mosaic. It is currently in the Chapel of the International Centre of the Focolare Movement in Rocca di Papa, where the tombs of Chiara Lubich, Igino Giordani and Pasquale Foresi are located.
