Chiara Lubich highlights the fact that the poor are not so much those who do not have, but rather those who give.
“The ‘poor in spirit’, because while they have gone without, have everything; they are poor in themselves yet they are rich in God. The evangelical phrase also applies here: “Give and it will be given to you” (Lk 6:38): we give what we have and we are given back nothing less than the Kingdom of heaven.”
