Amman, December 7, 1999 In December 1999 Chiara Lubich was in Amman, Jordan, where she met a small but lively group of people forming the Focolare community there. The new millennium was awaited with both hope and fear. What follows is Chiara’s answer to New Stadt magazine to the question “What is your vision for the new millennium?” Q. What is your vision for the new millennium? A. I don’t have a vision for the next millennium. I cannot have one because I am not a prophet. But I have a great deal of hope in my heart. Undoubtedly, this is an effect of the charism which the Holy Spirit has put there for the benefit of many. I see in the Work of Mary, the Focolare Movement, such a vast, universal and impressive work of the Holy Spirit that I cannot fail to be truly optimistic about the future. Giornata mondiale della gioventù, un appuntamento con Gesù

Colonia, 16 Agosto 2005 Dal 28 al 31 luglio si svolge a Cracovia (Polonia) la Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù (GMG). Proponiamo il messaggio di Chiara Lubich ai giovani partecipanti a Colonia (Germania) nell’agosto 2005. “ Una volta incontrato Gesù, come non perderlo?”. Messaggio di Chiara Lubich ai giovani partecipanti al Colourdome durante la GMG 2005 “Perché vai alla GMG?” “Perché spero di incontrare Gesù”, ha risposto una ragazza arrivata qui a Colonia insieme a centinaia di migliaia di giovani da tutto il mondo. Penso che non è l’unica ad avere in cuore questo struggente desiderio: incontrare Gesù! Ed è anche il motto di questa GMG: cercare Cristo, trovarlo ed adorarlo. Kind and Merciful

The Word of Life of August 1988 Chiara Lubich’s commentary on this text from one of St Paul’s letters takes us to the heart of the Christian message, which has been emphasised so much by Pope Francis during the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Be kind to one another, compassionate, and mutually forgiving, just as God has forgiven you in Christ (Eph 4:32) The Word of Life of this month is taken from the letter of St Paul to the community in Ephesus. The apostle speaks of Christian life as a life of unity and charity. After enumerating the things which Christian love makes us avoid (lying, stealing, dishonesty, etc.) he tells us what this love urges us to do. And here is one of the primary attitudes suggested by charity: kindness, understanding, compassion, forgiveness towards all. “Benevoli e Misericordiosi…”

Parola di vita di agosto 1988 Il commento di Chiara Lubich a questo brano tratto dalle lettere di s. Paolo ci porta al cuore del messaggio cristiano, così fortemente sottolineato da papa Francesco in quest’Anno Giubilare della Misericordia. «Siate benevoli gli uni verso gli altri, misericordiosi, perdonandovi a vicenda come Dio ha perdonato a voi in Cristo» (Ef 4,32). La Parola di vita di questo mese è presa dalla lettera di san Paolo alla comunità di Efeso. L'apostolo sta parlando delle vita cristiana come vita di unità e di carità. Dopo avere elencato le cose che l'amore cristiano ci fa evitare (la menzogna, il furto, la disonestà, ecc.). egli ci dice ciò che questo amore spinge a fare. Ed ecco uno dei primi atteggiamenti che la carità ci suggerisce: la misericordia, il perdono verso tutti. «Siate benevoli gli uni verso gli altri, misericordiosi, perdonandovi a vicenda come Dio ha perdonato a voi in Cristo». Per un’ Europa Patria comune.

Rocca di Papa, 30 giugno 2003 Messaggio di Chiara Lubich per Stoccarda Dal 30 giugno al I° luglio è in corso a Monaco di Baviera il quarto incontro internazionale di “Insieme per l’Europa”, risultato di un cammino di comunione iniziato nel 1998, tra oltre 300 Movimenti e Comunità di varie Chiese. Proponiamo il messaggio di Chiara Lubich in vista della preparazione della giornata delll’8 maggio 2004 a Stoccarda. Il santo Padre Giovanni Paolo II, nel suo ultimo viaggio a Madrid, in Spagna, ha detto una frase che ha avuto una particolare risonanza nel nostro animo. Ha affermato d'avere un sogno: l'"Europa dello spirito". Non solo quindi l'Europa politicamente una, non solo l'Europa dell'euro e così via, ma "l'Europa dello spirito". Ed è un po' questo stesso sogno che muove anche noi, appartenenti a vari Movimenti o Comunità o gruppi cristiani che, uniti fra noi in nome di Cristo, stiamo preparando la Giornata di Stoccarda dell'8 maggio 2004 intitolata: "Insieme per l'Europa".Facciamo ciò perché amiamo l'Europa come nostra patria, e vorremmo vederla

Rocca di Papa, 30th June 2003 Chiara Lubich’s Message for Stuttgart From the 30th June to the 1st July the fourth International meeting of “Together for Europe” is taking place in Munich in Germany. It is the outcome of fellowship among more than 300 Movements and Communities in various Churches. Here is Chiara Lubich’s message written as the event held on 8th May 2004 in Stuttgart was being prepared. On his recent journey to Madrid, in Spain, Pope John Paul II said words that had a particular effect on our soul. He said he dreamed of “Europe of the spirit”. So, not only political unity in Europe, not only Europe with the euro, but “Europe of the spirit”.This is the dream that motivates us too, who belong to various Movements, Communities and Christian groups which, united in the name of Christ, are preparing the Event at Stuttgart to be held on 8th May 2004 called “Together for Europe”. Let’s do this because we love Europe as we love our own countries
