1998 in Argentina with the Jewish Community

On April 20, 1998, in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Chiara met members of the Jewish community and signed a pact of fraternity with them. “It is with great joy that I am here today with you all, a part of one of the largest Jewish communities in the world. […] And what does my heart tell me at this most propitious moment? First of all, the desire to know you at least a little. And then to establish a relationship with you, as brothers and sisters, not just something abstract, made up of compliments and words. Something concrete, hopefully nourished by reciprocal gifts. For that is what brothers and sisters do, who after a long time discover one another as such, and love one another.”[1].

1998 in dialogue with people of non- religious convictions

At the end of the 1970s, with the spread of the Movement, a greater openness towards agnostics, atheists, the indifferent, and people without formal faith, reached the point of expressing itself in a dialogue with its own particular features. Unity also means having deep respect for human dignity, identity, culture, human needs and beliefs. With this in mind, in 1978 the "International Centre for Dialogue with People of Non-Religious Beliefs" was created. In 1992, the first international conference was organized, which has been held periodically since then. In 1995 in Loppiano, then in 1998 in Castel Gandolfo, Chiara began a "dialogue with people of non-religious beliefs". In these conferences Chiara invited them to collaborate in the realisation of universal fraternity.

In St Peter’s Square, Rome, on May 30 1998, Chiara was among the four founders who spoke at the first international meeting of ecclesial movements and new communities. Over 350,000 people took part. Thanking the Pope for the support received over time, she addressed John Paul II with a promise: “We know that the Church desires full communion among movements, and their unity which, moreover, has already begun. But we assure you, Your Holiness, that, since our specific charism is unity, we will strive with all our strength to contribute to achieving it fully”[1]. Subsequently, at the local and national level, 282 gatherings were held with the involvement of more than 325 Movements and more than half a million people. The following year, on October 26, 2000, in Assisi, Chiara initiated a journey of fellowship between ancient and new charisms, beginning with the Franciscan family. During her journey to Spain, after visiting the places associated with its great saints, Ignatius of Loyola, Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross, on
