Maria Voce concludes her earthly journey
On 20th June, Maria Voce, the first president of the Focolare Movement after the founder Chiara Lubich, concluded her earthly journey. Chiara had given her a “new name,” almost a program for life, a luminous underlining of her being: Emmaus. Margaret Karram, the current president of the Focolare Movement, in announcing her passing, wrote among other things: “The name Emmaus given by Chiara, which recalls the experience of the Risen Christ walking with us, marked her entire life. In fact, she said: “How do you do God’s Work? With Jesus in the midst!”. We remember with gratitude Maria Voce’s desire to give life to the Chiara Lubich Centre, which she accompanied with trust and personal attention towards each collaborator.
