The book presentation in L’Aquila, Italy, was not only a cultural event but also an opportunity to reflect on the value of fraternity and dialogue.

The Italian publication “Lacrime e Stelle. Per una autobiografia di Chiara Lubich. Gli inizi” [Tears and Stars: Towards an Autobiography of Chiara Lubich – The Beginnings], has been authored by Fr Fabio Ciardi and published by Città Nuova.

The evocative Renaissance hall of Palazzo Alfieri in l’Aquila —part of the Micarelli Sisters’ complex—was packed to capacity. An atmosphere of heartfelt engagement marked the presentation of the book which took place on the afternoon of 9 June 2026.

Note on “Tears and Stars” publication

In this biography, the author lets the protagonist tell her story. The result is a sort of “autobiography,” made possible by the many writings Chiara Lubich left behind as her legacy: notes, diaries, letters, interviews… many of which were previously unpublished.

This allows us to delve into the depths of her life, her most profound experiences, from her beginnings until 1962, when her “Idea” first achieved ecclesial recognition.
