Lo scritto qui riportato è stato pubblicato come Editoriale nel periodico Città Nuova del 10 maggio 1970, pochi mesi dopo lo straordinario e sbalorditivo sbarco sulla luna di tre astronauti nel luglio 1969.Nella visione del mondo propria di Chiara Lubich centrata sull'unità, scienza e fede si richiamano a vicenda: la scienza è una via per andare a Dio, mentre la fede può e deve dare un contributo alla scienza.Scrivendo nel contesto ecclesiale non facile che è seguito al Concilio Vaticano II, Chiara parte dall'esperienza degli astronauti per introdurci in una comprensione umano-divina della Chiesa e della sua struttura. Commento alla Parola di Vita: Convertitevi e credete al Vangelo (Mc 1,15) Comincia così, nel Vangelo di Marco, l'annuncio di Gesù al mondo, il suo messaggio di salvezza: «Il tempo è compiuto, il regno di Dio è vicino. Convertitevi e credete al Vangelo». Con la venuta di Gesù spunta un'era nuova, l'era della grazia e della salvezza. E le sue prime parole sono un invito ad abbracciare la grande novità, la realtà stessa del Regno di Dio che egli pone alla portata di tutti, vicino a ogni uomo. Commetary on the Word of Life: Repent, and believe in the gospel (Mc 1:15) In Mark’s gospel, Jesus begins his proclamation to the world, his message of salvation, with these words: ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the gospel.’ The coming of Jesus marks the beginning of a new era, the era of grace and salvation. His first words are an invitation to embrace this great novelty, the actual reality of the kingdom of God which he brings within reach of all people, close to every person. He immediately shows the way, which is to repent and believe in the gospel. This means changing one’s life radically and accepting the word that God, in and through Jesus, speaks to humanity of all times. Repentance and faith must go hand in hand.
