Se amate quelli che vi amano, che merito ne avrete ? …

Roma, 25 gennaio 1992 Commento alla Parola di vita: Se amate quelli che vi amano, che merito ne avrete? Anche i peccatori fanno lo stesso (Lc 6,32). La Parola di vita di questo mese è presa dal Vangelo di Luca. Essa fa parte di quell'ampia sezione dei detti di Gesù, che nel Vangelo di Matteo corrisponde al discorso della montagna. In questa sezione, come è noto, Gesù descrive le esigenze del Regno di Dio e i lineamenti che caratterizzano coloro che vi appartengono. Questi si ispirano e si riconducono alla imitazione del Padre celeste. In questo versetto Gesù chiama i suoi discepoli ad imitare Dio Padre nell'amore. Se vogliamo essere figli suoi, dobbiamo amare il nostro prossimo a quel modo con cui Egli ama. Se amate quelli che vi amano, che merito ne avrete? Anche i peccatori fanno lo stesso. This month’s Word of Life is taken from Luke’s gospel. It is part of a large section of Jesus’ sayings that corresponds to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel.
